Habiba Akhter and Sumaiya Akhter, two sisters from Narayanganj Government Tolaram University, are not safe due to lack of money. Habiba and Sumaiya live in Nanabari in the Mizmiji Abdul Alipul area of Siddhirganj. Father Abdul Karim Mia married a second time and kicked them out. Mother Asma Begum works at Adamji EPZ’s Beka Garments with a salary of Tk 10,000.

Despite the shortage, Habiba GPA-4.52 and Sumaiya GPA-4.81 from Mizmiji Paschimpara High School passed SSC this time. They are two sisters who have been considered for admission to Government Tolaram College through the online application. Although the admission process started last Sunday, the two sisters have yet to get admission for Tk 5,000.

Habiba Akhter said, they are 6 sisters. The older sister got married 4 years ago. Of the 3 remaining sisters, two are in fifth grade and one in infant grade. Mother Achma Begum also runs the Tanaporen family. Habiba and Sumaiya’s uncles work in clothing and have to take care of their families’ expenses. That’s why they can’t cooperate even if they want to.

Habiba said: ‘My father used to torture my mother a lot because we had no brothers. After remarrying in 2016 without my mother’s permission, I didn’t pay any expenses in the family, so I worked in a clothing factory for a year and a half to support the family. That’s why I couldn’t go to any class at school. Then when my mother got a job, I quit and started studying again. ‘

“We want to study,” he said. We want to show everyone that we are not girls.

Another sister, Sumaiya, says: “We want to study and get a good job. We want to do something in the future for those like us in society who are deprived of education due to lack of money. If I can get admitted, I will work part time and study at university. In addition, I will try to do the classes from next January.

Mother Achma Begum said: I want my daughters to study. My daughters are interested in education.

Saidur Rahman, principal of Mizmiji Paschimpara High School, said Sumaiya and Habiba are interested in studying. Although they are missing, they have done well in CSS. I think that if someone helps them study, they will do better in the future.
