The father also died two hours after receiving the news of his daughter’s suicide in Mirpur, Kushtia. The incident took place in the Sultanpur area of Mirpur Township on Tuesday afternoon.
The two are Baba Sultanpur area easybike rider Mostafa Mandal (40) and his daughter Shantana Khatun (20). Mirpur Police Inspector (investigation) Shuvro Prakash confirmed the news.
According to Matin, Shantana’s cousin, in the morning, her mother had an argument with Shantana about family matters. He committed suicide by tying a rope around his neck at home around 12 noon. He was later rescued and taken to the Mirpur Upazila Health Complex, where the doctor on duty declared him dead. Two hours later, around two in the afternoon, Shantana’s father suddenly fell ill. When they took him to the same hospital, doctors said he died of a stroke. After separating from her husband, Shantana lived with her four-year-old son at his father’s home.
Mirpur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shuvro Prakash said the girl was taken to hospital after her father fell ill after receiving news of her suicide. Later he died there. The incident is being investigated.
On September 19 of last year, a mother, a father and a daughter from the same family died of a stroke 12 hours apart in the Naopara area of the same municipality.
