A huge tiger fish weighing 113 kg has been caught in the net of a prison called Asadul Islam in Chilmari upazila of Kurigram. On Wednesday (October 21) morning, the crowd gathered to watch the fish caught in the Brahmaputra River net.

Asadul Islam is a resident of the Nayarhat Union of the upazila. “I miss my family,” he said. I am in debt. Maybe God looked at me and the fish got caught in my net. I have sold the fish for a lakh 12 lakhs. With the money from the sale of the fish, I will be able to live comfortably with my wife and children.

Abu Hanafi, president of the Nayarhat Union, said that Asadul was very poor. He was worried about getting a loan from an NGO. He has benefited greatly financially by catching this huge fish in his net.

Chilmari Upazila Fisheries Officer. Badruzzaman Mia said that between 40 and 50 tigers are caught here each year. Today a tiger weighing 113 kg has been caught. The fish has been sold in a local market for a lakh 12 lakhs. This rare species of fish was bought by local merchants. It is the largest fish of the year.
