The death of Supreme Court attorney Barrister Asif Imtiaz Khan Jisad has been a mystery. Whether it’s suicide or murder, you’ve created a smoke. Police say a decision cannot be reached without an autopsy and investigation.
Lawyer Asif Imtiaz Khan Jisad, son of former Member of Parliament (MP) Shahidul Islam, jumped from his home at 183 Kanthalbagan Free School Street, below the Kalabagan Police Station, around 4:30 am on Friday. He is about 33 years old.
It is known that Barrister Asif used to get drunk. She also received rehabilitation treatment for three months.
His wife Sabrina Shahid Nishita. Asif married her for love. His family did not accept this marriage. For this reason, Asif used to stay at his father-in-law’s house with his wife even though his father and family were in Mirpur.
Asif’s brother-in-law, Simon Shahid Nishad, said Asif married his older sister, Sabrina Shahid Nishita, four years ago. Asif’s family did not accept it. For this reason, Asif used to stay with his father-in-law. They do not have kids.
Nishad added that Asif and Sabrina had occasional fights over family matters. Asif was addicted to drugs. He was also in rehab in Uttara for four months.
According to Nishad, last night the husband and wife started arguing again. At one point, Asif jumped over the railing of the ninth floor veranda and fell.
Asif was rescued in critical condition and taken to the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead.
Kalabagan OC Paritosh Chandra Police Station said: “After receiving the news, we went to the house in Kanthalbagan.” There I spoke with relatives including the parents of the deceased. Comment from Asif’s wife: Barrister Asif drank beer regularly. I also ate last night. There are monomalinya among them. Asif was sitting on the veranda at night. Last night he suddenly jumped from the ninth floor.
Meanwhile, Asif’s father, Shahidul Islam, told the media that Asif is a lawyer for the Supreme Court. He was legal advisor to Desh Trading Corporation in Motijheel. People from his father-in-law’s house reported in the morning that Asif’s condition was not good, they took him to Dhaka Medical College.
“I came here later and saw Asif dead,” he said. He demanded a proper investigation into the incident. If someone is found guilty in the investigation, they demand justice.
The OC said an investigation has been reported. A stain was found on Asif’s body. The incident is under investigation. Details can be given after the autopsy.
Lawyer Asif Imtiaz Khan Jisad is the son of lawyer Shahidul Islam Khan from the Sirajganj Kamarkhand Bagbari area. Shahidul Islam was a deputy for the Sirajganj-5 constituency (Belkuchi Kamarkhand) from 198 to 1990. Asif became a lawyer and served on the Supreme Court.
