Span 35 of the Padma Bridge has been successfully installed on the quay. Seven days after the installation of section 34, it was installed on pillars 8 and 9 at noon on Saturday. It is visible more than five kilometers from the bridge. And if six spans settle in approximately one kilometer, the entire infrastructure of the Padma Bridge will be visible. This work will be completed next December. Based on the revised time, the Padma Bridge work will be completed by June 30, 2021.

Padma Bridge Dewan Executive Engineer. Abdul Quader told Kaler Kantha that engineers and workers successfully placed section 35 on the dock at 2:43 pm yesterday. Earlier, around 9:25 am yesterday, the span was brought from the steel truss jetty of the Kumarbhog construction yard in Lohajang, Munshiganj to a specific pier. The stretch was then successfully placed on the dock at 2:43 p.m.

Section 35 was scheduled for last Friday. Due to the navigability crisis on the Padma River, it was not possible to install the span that day.

The executive engineer said 35 spans have been installed on the Padma Bridge so far. The bridge has been visible for 5,250 meters. The six remaining spans will be installed. All installation work on the stretch will be completed next December. Consequently, section 36 at pier 2 and 3 on November 4, section 36 at pier 9 and 10 on November 11, section 36 at pier 1 and 2 on November 16, section 39 at Pier 10 and 11 on November 23 and Pier 11 and 12 on December 2. Section 40 and the last section 41 on December 10 will be located at docks 12 and 13.

He added that work on the Padma Bridge is expected to be completed in June 2021 according to the revised schedule. Of the total of 41 sections, until yesterday 35 sections have been laid. The six remaining spans will be installed. Installation work will be completed next December. On the other hand, the road slab and railway slab installation work is also progressing rapidly. So far, a total of 2,918 road slabs have been installed in 1,018. 1,748 have been placed on 2,969 railroad slabs. Of the total of 484 superguards of the Mawa and Jajira viaduct, 256 have been installed.

Construction of the Padma Bridge began in December 2014. The main bridge is being built by China Major Bridge Engineering Company (MBEC), a Chinese contractor, and Sino Hydro Corporation is working on the river.

The main shape of this 6.15 km long multi-purpose bridge will be two-story. The main structure of this bridge is being built with concrete and steel.
