A Canadian airline canceled the entire flight because the passenger’s 19-month-old son did not have a mask. They did not stop canceling, they also called the police for it.
The incident took place at Calgary airport in Canada on Tuesday, the BBC reported.
According to the BBC, WestJet Flight 752 was scheduled to fly from Calgary, Canada, to Toronto. At the time, flight officials did not see the mask on the face of the 19-month-old daughter of a passenger on the flight named Safwan Chowdhury. The girl did not want to wear a mask at all. The flight was canceled due to noise.
The flight was canceled after a family refused to wear a mask during the trip, WestJet said. Because according to its coronation rules, the wearing of masks is mandatory for passengers over two years of age.
However, the head of the family, Safwan Chowdhury, claimed that WestJet wanted to force his 19-month-old daughter to wear a mask.
“I was waiting for the flight with my wife and two daughters,” he complained. At that time my three-year-old daughter was eating breakfast taking off her mask. On the eve of the flight, several WestJet workers approached my wife and told her that my two daughters had to wear masks. At this time, the WestJet staff treated us harshly. They turned to my 19-month-old baby and told him that all the passengers on the flight had to wear a mask or not leave the flight.
Safwan Chowdhury added: “My oldest daughter was so aggressive taking off her mask and eating breakfast that WestJet staff called the police.” The boy is even told to get out of the airport, as she does not have a mask on her face. They were also threatened with arrest and sent to jail if they did not comply. At that point I left the airport with my family without further ado.
Other passengers on the flight have expressed their annoyance at the incident. They consider WestJet’s behavior to be masking a child under the age of three as an exaggeration.
They cannot think that the whole flight has been canceled because a child is not wearing a mask.
