The Electoral Commission (EC) has decided to bring a case against Mujibur Rahman Chowdhury Nixon, an independent MP from the Faridpur-4 constituency. It was reported that this action will be taken against him for violating the code of conduct in the election of Charbhadrasan Upazila Parishad. Chief Elections Commissioner KM Nurul Huda said the case would be presented on Wednesday or Thursday.
After a law and order meeting with journalists at the Dhaka-5 and Dhaka-17 by-elections on Wednesday (October 14) at noon at the Agargaon electoral building in the capital, he said that local MPs had acted out of order. The data commission has enough information on this. Which is enough to sue. The police will investigate later. An investigative committee will be formed to investigate whether there are further allegations. The committee will have three members.
Previously, an audio clip was released on social media where Nixon Chowdhury was abusing UNO from Charbhadrasan on the phone. But he claimed the audio was fully edited and not his. At a press conference Tuesday, Nixon Chowdhury said that many people were angered by the torture of Awami League leaders and activists during the elections. He appeared at the request of the administration to calm them down.
