Due to the global epidemic, the government has extended the Mujib Year celebration for another year. The Cabinet Division sent a proposal to the Prime Minister’s Office to extend the Mujib Year as the Corona epidemic failed to celebrate the current Mujib Year in a festive atmosphere. The prime minister agreed.

According to sources in the Cabinet Division, it was proposed to extend the deadline to celebrate the Mujib Year until December 16, 2021. A notification in this regard can be issued on Sunday (December 13).

‘Mujibvarsha’ is the celebration of the centenary of the birth of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. On the occasion of the centenary of Bangabandhu’s birth, the festival would be celebrated grandly through various programs starting on March 16, 2020. However, due to the coronavirus situation, all arrangements have been limited. The celebration would continue until March 26, 2021.

Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation of Bangladesh, was born on March 18, 1920 in East Bengal (now Tungipara village in the Gopalganj district of Bangladesh).

Furthermore, March 26, 2021 will mark the half century of Bangladesh’s independence. The declared year is of special significance as Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was deeply involved in the fight for freedom in Bangladesh.
