A 16-year-old housewife was reportedly arrested overnight in Kazirhat in Mehendiganj upazila of Barisal. Attempts were made to cover up the incident locally after the incident in the middle of Sunday night. The housewife tried to commit suicide by poisoning on Monday. He is currently undergoing treatment at the Upazila Hospital. When the incident came to light Monday night, police were on fire.
The officer in charge of the Hijla Police Station, Asim Kumar Sikder, said that the housewife was admitted to the Upazila Health Complex in an unconscious state.
The housewife’s brother-in-law, Abu Bakar, alleged that Nazmul, Babu and Rajib from the same area, a resident of Andharmanik Union District No. 2 in Mehendiganj, called the housewife from their home on Sunday evening. and they arrested her.
The housewife was returned to her mother on Monday in the presence of local UP member Paran Bhuiyan. Shortly after the incident, the housewife tried to commit suicide by poisoning herself. Attempts have been made to cover up the matter locally. But when the housewife fell seriously ill, she was admitted to the adjoining Hijla Upazila Health Complex on Monday night.
The officer in charge of the Kazirhat police station, Sajjad Hossain, said he was married three months ago. Citing the statement of her brother-in-law Abu Bakkar, Sajjad Hossain said that the housewife went to the house of neighbor Rajib on Sunday night to meet a young man. Then local Farooq Bhuiyan closed the door from outside. The housewife was released in the morning.
The family of the housewife did not file a complaint in this incident. Legal action will be taken if a complaint is received. Doctor of the Hijla Upazila Health Complex. Shah Raj Hayat said the housewife is safe. But he cannot speak.
