The Health Department has advised the government not to reopen educational institutions and not to conduct public examinations as coronavirus infections are increasing in the country.
In a meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office on Tuesday, health officials also proposed a complete lockdown to control corona infection.
Following the proposal from health officials, senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office said that the decision would be made by the authorities concerned. At the same time, they ordered the Health Department to implement hygiene standards and reopen Corona Dedicated Hospitals.
Director General of the Department of Health, Prof. ABM Khurshid Alam told The Daily Star last night: “We have presented these issues at the meeting for discussion. These were our proposals for discussion. As we have commented, the interested authorities will decide. However, we have been instructed to continue our efforts to ensure that everyone adheres to hygiene rules.
When asked if the 41st BCS exam will take place tomorrow, Public Service Commission (PSC) member Shahjahan Ali Mollah told the Daily Star last night: “There is only one day left for the exam. Meetings, political rallies, elections, tourism, religious gatherings, Iftar ceremonies and other events where public gatherings take place are restricted or closed and many other topics are discussed in the meeting held in the Prime Minister’s Office. These include strengthening detection at all entrances to the country, quarantining those who come into contact with infected people, etc.
