Following the investigation, on May 17, 2015, the police brought separate indictments against 26 individuals, including then-BNP MP Habibul Islam Habib, under the Sheikh Hasina Attempted Killing, Explosives and Weapons Act. The complaint was made on July 10, 2016.
A defendant named Rakib alias Rakibur Rahman filed an application with the High Court in 2016 to dismiss the attempted murder case after the charges were filed. Given this, on August 23 of the same year, the Superior Court suspended the processing of the case as a rule. After a final hearing on the rule, the same Superior Court court issued its verdict on October 8.

The ruling dismissing the rule ordered the trial court to resolve the case within a possible three months. Now the trial of the attempted murder case is ongoing in the judicial court.

In 2016, the defendant Altab Hossain and others filed separate appeals against the charges under the Arms and Explosives Act in the case brought in connection with the attack.
