The whereabouts of a prisoner named Farhad Hossain Rubel in Chittagong Prison does not match.

During the regular inmate count on Saturday morning, the prison authorities reported the inmate’s absence (inmate number: 2546/21). After the incident, a ‘crazy bell’ was rung at Chittagong Central Jail in the afternoon in search of the missing prisoner. Additional police officers have also been deployed to the jail. A search is underway at the jail. A GD has been reported to the Kotwali Police Station in the incident.

According to prison sources, Rubel is charged in a murder case at the Sadarghat police station. Sadarghat police arrested him on February 9 and sent him to jail through court. His village house is in Raipura upazila of the Narsingdi district. After being sent to jail, the detainee was kept in a ward of the central jail No. 15, Karnafuli Bhaban, which is regarded as the “punishment ward”.

During the regular count of prisoners on Saturday morning, the problem of Rubel’s absence from the Karnafuli building was detected. After searching different jail blocks throughout the day, the prisoner’s whereabouts were not found. Prison authorities could not confirm whether Rubel escaped from prison or was mixing with other inmates. In the afternoon, crazy bells were rung in the jail to find the prisoner. At that moment, panic spread inside the jail.
