Ulfat Ara Tinni (24), a worthy student at the Islamic University, has mysteriously died. The family alleges that Tinni committed suicide out of shame after being brutally tortured by her older sister’s ex-husband.
The incident took place at his home in the Sheikhpara village of Shailkupa upazila in Jhenaidah at midnight on Friday. Tinni, daughter of the late Yusuf Ali, a freedom fighter from the village of Sheikhpara, is a deserving student in the accounting department of the Islamic University.
Makhleshur Rahman, the deceased’s cousin, said Tinni’s older sister, Minni, was married to Jamirul, a businessman from Sheikhpara Bazar, son of Punuruddin from the same village. Jamirul broke up with Minni because he was not married. However, he wants to take Minni home again. But if Minni disagreed, Jamirul had been torturing the family for a long time.
As there were no male members in the house, the family was left defenseless due to Jamirul’s torture. At around 10 p.m. Thursday, people entered Tinni’s house in Jamirul Sheikhpara and destroyed it. Two hours later, Jamirul returned to the house and tortured Tinni.
The older sister Minni complained that what Jamirul had done with Tinni on the second floor of the house was that in just 10 minutes I saw the fresh sister’s body hanging with the fan. He alleges that it was a premeditated murder. She committed suicide by doing something bad to my sister.
Tinni’s mother, Halima Begum, said, my daughter is very talented. BCS was preparing for the exam. On the night of the incident, Jamirul was threatened as he was returning home from a bride’s wedding in Kushtia. Our suspicion is that Tinni was killed after being brutally tortured.
Assistant Police Superintendent Ariful Islam of the Shailkupa circle said Tinni’s death was a mystery. Something has been done to him that has forced him to commit suicide. The matter can be confirmed after a medical examination. We are closely following the matter. Signs have been collected.
He added that the body was taken to Kushtia Hospital for burial in Sheikhpara after an autopsy on Friday afternoon.
