Authorities at the Sylhet Central Prison have said that, for the first time in the country, a prisoner died of the crown. Sylhet Central Jail Superintendent of the Senior Jail on Tuesday morning. Abdul Jalil has confirmed this information.

Abdul Jalil further stated: “The man was arrested in a murder case on May 5 and arrived at the Sylhet Central Prison as a detainee. When he fell ill on May 8, he was first admitted to the prison hospital. The next day he was taken from the prison hospital to the prison room of the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. He was admitted to the isolation center of Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital the same day due to the symptoms of the crown. He died on 10 May while on treatment there. ‘At the moment, a block from the Sylhet Central Prison has been closed and around 100 inmates have been sent to quarantine in a separate building after contacting the victim. I am quarantined myself. Twenty-five staff members, including the hospital’s assistant surgeon, were in contact with the man. That is why they will also be quarantined for 14 days. Sample tests are being organized for everyone, ”he said.
