In a tweet, the BCCI announced on Wednesday the XI of the first day-night test between the two teams. The first test of the four-game series begins Thursday in Adelaide.
With Rohit Sharma out of the team, India has relied on Mayank Agarwal and Prithviraj Shaw in the opening. Shubman Gill, however, hit well in the warm-up game and raised the possibility of taking a spot at XI.
Whether Rishabh Pant or Riddhiman Saha will play this test day and night, this was the main topic of discussion. However, the visitors gave Riddhiman a chance due to his skill behind the gate. Basically the pink ball will move a lot, they have kept the goalkeeper on the team with that in mind. He played his last test against Bangladesh in November last year.
India has selected veteran spinner Ravichandran Ashwin.
Ishant Sharma has already left the Test series. With Mohammad Shami and Jaspreet Bumrah, who will be India’s third pacemaker, there was a heated discussion about it. Young Navdeep Saini and Mohammad Siraj were on the test team. But the team has relied on the experienced Umesh Yadav.
As usual, Virat Kohli is the captain. However, the visitors will not get the best hitter of the moment in the next three tests. He will return to the country to be with his probable wife.
Adelaide India XI Test: Mayank Agarwal, Prithvi Shaw, Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kohli (captain), Ajinkya Rahane, Hanuma Bihari, Riddhiman Saha (goalkeeper), Ravichandran Ashwin, Umesh Yadav, Mohammad Shami, Jaspreet Bumrah.
