The police brought a case against him the day after he was elected president as a BNP-nominated candidate for the position.
A case has been brought against 155 BNP leaders and activists, including the newly elected president of the Dashghar Union in Bishwanath Upazila, in Sylhet, for attacking the police on Election Day, vandalizing vehicles carrying electoral equipment, and obstructing the work of the government.
The Bishwanath Police Station SI Nur Hossain presented the case on Friday evening. The statement of the case named newly elected President Emad Uddin Khan as the main defendant and mentioned the names of 35 people. In addition, another 100/120 people have been named as anonymous defendants in the case.
According to the police, the defendant attacked the police while returning to Upazila Sadar with ballot boxes and voting equipment from the Dashghar NU High School polling station on the night after the Dashghar Union elections last Thursday.
At that moment, the glass of a van carrying electoral equipment broke. Subsequently, the police fired 5 rounds of shotgun and escaped from the attackers and reached the Upazila Sadar.
Meanwhile, newly elected President Emad Khan’s mobile phone has been turned off since the case was filed.
OC Shamim Musa police admitted the truth of the case and said that the operation to arrest the defendants was continuing.
