Previously, before going abroad, you had to pay a government fee of Rs 1,500 for testing a sample of the new coronavirus. This rate applies to everyone.
However, the Department of Health Services issued a notice on December 24 to reduce the fee only for smart card holders.
According to a circular signed by Bilkis Begum, Undersecretary of the Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, the user fee for the sample test has been re-set at Tk 300 instead of Tk 1,500 to issue free certificates of COVID-19 to passengers traveling abroad. This user fee will be charged at all government healthcare institutions for issuing the free COVID-19 certificate only to employees of the Ministry of Welfare for Expatriates and Employment Abroad who wish to travel abroad with a smart card.
It is also mentioned in the notice that the order issued in the public interest with the approval of the competent authority will take effect immediately.

Coronavirus testing for passengers traveling from Bangladesh began on July 20.
At the time, foreigners were being charged a fee of Rs 3,500 after the start of coronavirus testing. On August 24, the government reduced the rate to 1,500 taka. This time, the rate for expatriate workers is reduced to Tk 1,200.
Initially, the coronavirus was tested only in government institutions. On October 20, the government approved 10 private healthcare providers to test foreigners for coronavirus. These institutes charge a fee of Rs 3,500 for sample tests.
On December 24, the government approved 21 more companies that test coronavirus samples. At the same time, the fee for the sample test was reduced from Rs 3,500 to Rs 3,000.
