Earlier on Monday (December 6), lawyer Abdul Malek, founder and CEO of the Bangabandhu Foundation, brought another case in the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Chief Magistrate Satyabrata Sikder, alleging sedition. The court ordered the Police Investigation Office (PBI) to investigate the case and submit a report before January 8.
The case alleges that the defendant Mamunul Haque threatened to demolish the Bangabandhu sculpture in a discussion meeting at the BMA auditorium on Topkhana Road in the capital on November 13. At that time, he said in his speech, “body after body will fall, but the construction of the Bangabandhu sculpture will not be allowed.” As a result of this statement, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s image and respect have been tarnished. “
