Cold conditions are improving in different parts of the country.
According to the Department of Meteorology (DMO), although winter conditions have improved, moderate to mild cold spells predominate in the affected areas. According to the latest observations, the cold wave is sweeping through Gopalganj, Sitakunda, Comilla Badalgachhi, Srimangal, Tentulia, Rajarhat and Chuadanga. In a day or two, the cold snap can cut through in some places.
The lowest temperature in the country on Monday was 7 in Panchagarh Tentulia. 5 degrees centigrade. Earlier on Sunday, the temperature in the same area was 6 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, the day before, the entire Rangpur Division, Barisal Division, including some areas of the country, the cold snap. But on Monday, despite the cold snap in some parts of the Rangpur division, the Barisal division has freed itself from this situation.
When the mercury on the barometer is typically between 8 and 10 degrees Celsius, it is called a mild cold snap. If the mercury in the meter falls below 6 to 8 degrees Celsius, it is considered moderate and if it is between 4 to 6 degrees Celsius, it is considered a severe cold snap. According to data on Monday, the country’s lowest temperature of 6.5 degrees Celsius was recorded in Tentulia in Panchagarh, an area adjacent to the Himalayas. The lowest temperature recorded in Dhaka on this day was 14 degrees Celsius, which was 13.4 degrees Celsius the day before.
According to meteorologists, the smaller the difference between the minimum and maximum temperatures, the greater the feeling of winter. Because, in such a situation, the sun cannot heat the area during the day. Such a situation is created in the presence of clouds. So the incidence of winter increased there. However, when the clouds disappear, the sun’s rays reach the surface. Then the intensity of winter diminishes. Currently, the aforementioned reality is playing a role in improving the winter situation, sources from BMD said.
Meanwhile, the weather forecast says that the weather across the country may remain dry. There may be moderate to heavy fog in the country’s river basins from midnight to morning and light to moderate fog in other parts of the country.
By the way, the cold wave has prevailed in the country since last Friday.
