His body was recovered three days after the incident of the theft of an 18-day-old baby from the lap of a sleeping father in Morelganj upazila de Bagerhat. The deceased was identified as Sanjida Akhter.
Police recovered the boy’s body floating from a pond inside the house in the Gabtala village of upazila on Wednesday morning.
Earlier, the boy, who slept with his father Sujan Khan and mother Shanta Akter, disappeared around 11 p.m. Sunday.
This information has been confirmed by Bagerhat Police Superintendent Pankaj Chandra Roy.
He said the boy’s grandfather was robbed Sunday night. Ali Hossain Khan filed a kidnapping case at the Morelganj police station on Monday night on behalf of unknown persons. On the other hand, after losing his only newborn son, now the crazy boy’s father is in jail Sujan Khan and mother Shanta Akter.
Sujan Khan and mother Shanta Akhter are known to put their daughter to bed in the middle of the night around 11pm on Sunday. They woke up around 2 am and saw that the girl was not in bed. His pillow is under the bed. The doors of the house are open.
Sanjida, a 17-day-old girl, was allegedly killed and her body thrown into a pond after it was stolen due to land disputes and family disputes with neighbors, the girl’s parents alleged.
According to the locals, after the robbery, the newborn was searched in different ways, including nets in the house pond more than once. Then no trace of him was found.
Police were informed after seeing the body of the newborn floating in the pond of the house in the morning.
Meanwhile, the police recovered the boy’s body for autopsy and sent him to the Bagerhat Hospital morgue.
Morelganj OC Police Station (Investigation) Thakur Das Mandal recovered the body of the newborn from the pond on Wednesday morning. However, he declined to comment.
