Chittagong: Chhatra Dal leaders and activists have been attacked by the BCL while giving flowers to the Chittagong University (CU) liberation war memorial sculpture on Victory Day.
At least 10 people, including Shahidul Islam Shahid, general secretary of the university’s student wing, were injured in the attack.
The injured students have been admitted to the city’s treatment hospital.
The incident took place in front of the university’s central library on Wednesday (December 16) at around 1:45 p.m.
Mohammad Yasin, vice president of CU Chhatra Dal, told banglanews that BCL leaders and activists suddenly attacked us while we were going to lay flowers on the sculpture of the Liberation War Memorial on the occasion of Victory Day. A total of 10-12 leaders and activists, including General Secretary Shahidul Islam, Finance Secretary Hasan, Deputy Secretary Arafat Khan and Jasim Uddin, were seriously injured. They have been admitted to the treatment hospital.
Among the injured, Secretary General Shahidul Islam and Finance Secretary Hasan are in critical condition, he said.
Meanwhile, the Chhatra League claimed that Chhatra Dal leaders and activists were trying to destabilize the campus with Shibir leaders and activists in the name of flower delivery. The Chhatra League foiled his plan.
Mizanur Rahman, former under secretary of the CU Chhatra League bureau, told Bipul banglanews, “We had news that they (Chhatra Dal) will destabilize the campus. That is why he came with the leaders and activists of the camp to give flowers. Our staff resisted them.
