At the end of the third day of the Chennai test, England scored 53 runs for 3 wickets. Dan Lawrence is hitting 19 and Joe Root is 2. The visitors need 429 more runs in the last two days to win. India needs the last 6 plots to level the series.

Ashwin, who crushed the English in the first inning with the ball, also played very well with the bat. After a nearly 100-run partnership with Virat Kohli, he led the team to 300 with lower-order hitters. He played a remarkable 108-run inning.

This is the first century of this Chennai cricketer at home. First against any country outside the West Indies. The 5th century cricketer has taken another step to touch Ian Botham’s record. The English all-rounder has the most five centuries and five terrains in the same match in Testing. Ashwin has three times.

India, who started the day 54 to one at MA Chidambaram Stadium on Monday, was under pressure from the start. Rohit Sharma and Cheteshwar Pujara, the two undefeated hitters from the day before, came back for 1 run.

In an attempt to score a quick run, India promoted Rishav Pant to five. This goalie-hitter was quickly fired by Jack Leach. Moin Ali did not allow Ajinkya Rahane and Akshar Patel to stay long.

Kohli was adamant on one extreme. However, India was under some pressure after losing 6 wickets for 106 races. From there, Ashwin put the team in a good position with a pair of 96 16-ball runs.

He is the pioneer of the couple. Kohli seemed to vanish in its light. Ashwin contributed 56 of 61 balls and the Indian captain 40 of 96 balls.

Moin stopped Kohli again. The right-hander, who scored 72 of 149 balls in six overs, was broken by resistance from India by making him lbw. Kuldeep Yadav and Ishant Sharma weren’t able to provide Ashwin much support.

Siraj played his first home test match with confidence. When he got to the fold, Ashwin, who was on 6, made a storm. India had 49 runs in the last match. Ashwin couldn’t go very far after playing a century. Oli Stone made 106 of 147 balls with 14 fours and six before being pitched.

Off course Moin took 4 wickets for 96 runs. Left arm spinner Leach took 4 wickets for 100 runs.

In the wicket state, there is no chance of hitting the 482-run goal. It is almost impossible to spend two days in this wicket. According to former England captain Michael Vaughan, England can credit itself if it can make 150. At the end of the third day, it lost 3 wickets to 19 overs.

Patel quickly broke the pair with lbw Dom Sibley. Rory Burns, another starter, came back with Ashwin’s ball for 25 runs, even though he got his life once in 6 runs.

After their departure, Patel gave Jack Leach, who arrived as a night watchman, a sample of the golden duck. More tough fights await the next day against Lawrence and Root, who have spent the rest of the day.
