The buses on the Ghatarchar-Motijheel route will run with 5 companies in April: Tapas

Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation, said the buses will be introduced on part of a route through the rationalization of bus routes.

Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh said this after the 14th meeting of the Bus Route Rationalization Committee on Tuesday.

He told reporters: “We have finalized our experts’ proposal for the rationalization of bus routes on 42 routes of 22 companies across nine clusters. In light of this decision, we will launch a franchise system as a pilot in a part of the Ghatarchar route of North City Corporation and Motijheel of South City.

“We have instructed our partners to complete all activities for this bus route franchise by March 31 of next year. We have already divided the responsibilities between them and we will start the bus as of April 1 in light of this decision. I look forward to restoring order to public transport in Dhaka. ”

When asked how many bus companies are on the new route, Tapas said: “There are basically five companies here. There are 175 buses on this route, initially we have received such information.

The meeting was attended by officials from the two city corporations, the president of the bus owners’ association, the president of BRTC and other members of the committee.
