The kidnappers smeared quail blood on the shirt of abducted lawyer Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal Milon (33) to demand a ransom of Tk 30 lakh. They then sent the bloodstained clothes to the family and took a strategy of collecting money. The kidnappers demanded a ransom by physically torturing Milon. They threatened to kill Milo if he did not pay the required amount.
The perpetrators planned such a crime from a program called Crime Patrol broadcast on an Indian television channel. They have committed such crimes before. They have taken kidnapping as a profession to raise money for messy life. Rabia Sultana Ritu (22) is one of the main perpetrators of the kidnapping. Ritu is said to be a student at Stampford University.
The Jessore Police Investigation Office (PBI) learned of the kidnappers after three people, including a woman, were arrested for allegedly involved in the kidnapping and the abducted lawyer was rescued. Police arrested three people, including a woman, in the incident. The detainees are Shaheen Shikadar (18), Abdus Salam (24) and Suraiya (20). However, the main culprits Habib Milon Raj (24) and Ritu (22) are out of reach. RBI Police Superintendent Reshma Sharmin said this at PBI Jessore’s office on Wednesday afternoon.
He said that lawyer Milon was rescued from Ektarpur village in Abhaynagar upazila de Jessore last Tuesday. He is the son of MA Hakim from Baruihati village in Satkhira’s Tala upazila. Rabeya Sultana Ritu, daughter of HM Harunur Rashid from Pratapnagar village in Asashuni upazila of Satkhira, married Milon. Ritu then called Milon to meet him in front of Khulna Pioneer College at noon on February 8 and abducted him. Later, Milon was taken prisoner at the home of Ritu’s girlfriend, Suraiya, in the Ektarpur village of Abhaygar upazila in Jessore. There, the lawyer detained Milon and demanded 3 million rupees from his family as physical torture and ransom. They threatened to kill Milo if he did not pay the required amount. The kidnappers even used the trick of sending quail blood to his family to extort fear from them.
Police Superintendent Reshma Sharmin further said that after the kidnapping, Milon’s brother-in-law Shariful Islam filed a GD at the Tala de Satkhira Police Station on February 8. They subsequently contacted the Jessore Police Investigation Office (PBI) with a copy of the GD. Shaheen Sikder was arrested by PBI in collaboration with the Abhaynagar police. According to the information provided by him, the kidnapped lawyer rescued Milon from Suraiya’s home. Suraiya and Abdus Salam were arrested at that time.
Reshma Sharmin said the kidnappers took up the profession as a profession to cover the cost of living a messy life. Inspired by a program called the Indian Crime Patrol, they planned the crime. The operation continues to arrest Ritu, Raj, and several others.
