The son has been accused of killing his mother by burning her with gasoline while she was not paying to buy a motorcycle in Sreevardi, Sherpur.
He died at the Sheikh Hasina Burn Institute in Dhaka on Friday. Police arrested her son Hanif Mia (14) in the incident. Hanif is the son of Sadagar alias Sada Miah from the municipal city.
According to the complaint and police sources, Hanif eliminated his mother for buying a motorcycle on the morning of October 11. Hanufa wants money from Begum (40). Hanif sprayed gasoline on her mother’s body while she slept late into the night and set it on fire with a gas lamp.
Later, family members rescued Hanufa Begum and admitted her to Sherpur Sadar Hospital and later to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital. Hanufa’s condition was critical and she was sent to the Sheikh Hasina Burn and Plastic Surgeon Institute.
Hanufar died Friday morning while receiving treatment there. Dulal Mia, older brother of the deceased, has lodged a complaint with the Sreevardi Police Station.
The officer in charge of the Sreevardi Police Station, Mohammad Ruhul Amin Talukder, said Hanif Mia was arrested and sent to court in connection with the allegations.
