On Monday, police recovered the body of an unidentified man from a lake in Rampura, part of Hatirjheel and sent him to the Dhaka Medical College morgue for an autopsy. The deceased was identified as Azizul Islam Mehedi by family members at the morgue on Tuesday. Later they went to Hatirjheel Police Station to present a case.

Relatives said that Mehedi is the only son of Fakhrul Islam from Bauria village in Sandwip upazila of Chittagong. He arrived in Dhaka from Chittagong around 5pm last Saturday to discuss passport making. He went to his friend’s house in the Banasree area. They had not found Mehdi since he left his friend’s house on Sunday morning. His phone number was also found blocked. Relatives learned of the rescue of the body from the police on Monday.

Said the deceased’s cousin. Shakil told reporters that Mehdi used to work and also made passports for his acquaintances. I can’t say who killed him like that. However, our idea is that you can fall into the clutches of brokers when it comes to passport jobs. For some reason he was killed by the runner.

Tejgaon Industrial Zone Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC) Hafiz Al Farooq said: “We are looking at the matter with the utmost importance.” An investigation is ongoing. I hope the mystery is revealed soon.
