The body of her boyfriend Shipon Malakar (18) is hanging from the tree. And sitting next to him is an eighth grader named Annie Akhter (18).
Police rescued them from the deep jungle of Zeropoint Eolachhara Panpunji in the Karmadha Union Indian border area in Moulvibazar Kulaura Upazila on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Sindhu Malakar from the village of Ganakia under the union of Prithimpasha. Annie Akhter is the daughter of Mahmud Ali of the Kanikiari village in the Prithimpasha union. She is a seventh class student at Ali Amjad High School.
While rescuing the body, Annie Akhter (18) was found crying next to the body of the deceased. The police rescued him along with the body and took him to the police station. Presumably the couple tried to flee the mountainous area to India, but failed.
Police and locals said Shipon Malakar and Annie Akhter had been missing since Friday. The family could not find them and reported them to the Kulaura police. In the morning, according to locals, the police approached the scene and saw the body of the young man hanging in the area near Zeropoint and a girl sitting next to him was crying. Upon receiving the news, their relatives went to the scene and identified Shipon and Annie dead.
Annie Akhter, a teenager standing by the body, said she had been in a love relationship with Shipon for two years. On Friday afternoon, he left the house with Shipon Malakar in anger and arrived in the Aolachhara Panpunji area of Karmadha Union.
By then night fell. While walking through the deep forest, he slipped and fell under the wheel. This rendered him unconscious. When he regained consciousness in the morning, he got up and saw Shipon’s body hanging from a tree.
The Kulaura SI Mahsin Talukder Police Station said there were no other injuries to the body. Shipon’s sweater was tied around his neck. The boy is believed to have committed suicide.
Kulaura Police Station OC Binoy Bhushan Roy said the body was sent to the Moulvibazar morgue for autopsy. The girl has been handed over to her family. Further action will be taken after receiving the autopsy report.
