The police have recovered the body of Sakshar Deb, a student from Srimangal Government College in Moulvibazar, from the Lakhaichhara Tea Garden in Srimangal 18 hours after his disappearance.

According to police and family sources, Sakshar Dev, the son of Kalyan Deb, general secretary of the Srimangal Primary Teachers Association, left the house on his father’s motorcycle around 4pm on Saturday. When he didn’t come home at night, his mother called him on his cell phone around 8pm and the line was cut off from the other end saying ‘I don’t know the signature’. After this incident, the signer’s father kept a general diary (GD) at the Srimangal police station.

Sakshar Dev is a student in class XII of the science department at Srimangal Government College. After much searching on Saturday night, they didn’t find him. Locals saw his body in a section of the Srimangal Lakhaichhara tea garden on Sunday morning and reported it to the police.

Srimangal Police Station Inspector Suhel Rana said a motorcycle and a mobile phone were found next to the body. The body has been sent to the 250-bed Moulvibazar hospital for autopsy.
