The police have recovered the bodies of two sisters from a house in the central Ganeshpur area of ​​the 22nd district of the Rangpur metropolis. The bodies were recovered around 2 p.m. Friday.

The deceased were identified as Sumaiya Akhter Meem, 18, daughter of Mokshedul Islam from the Madhyapara area of ​​Ganeshpur, and Jannatul Mawa, 14, daughter of Mominul Islam. They are cousins. Meem was the result of the Mulatol Alia Madrasa entrance examination in the city and was a ninth-class student at Jannatul Mawa Bir Muktijoddha Taibur Rahman High School.

Witnesses said Meem’s body was found hanging on a bed inside the room with a fan and Jannatul Mawa’s body lay on the floor in the next room with signs of neck injuries.

Locals said Mominul Islam (electrical technician) went to his father-in-law’s house in Ulipur upazila of Kurigram with his wife. Since his parents weren’t home, Jannatul Mawaek took his cousin Meem home to sleep at night. Due to the rain during the night, it was not understood what happened inside. His idea is murder. The murder may have been for love.

Abdur Rashid, officer in charge of the Metropolitan Police Kotwali Police Station, said preparations were under way to send the bodies to the morgue for autopsy. In addition, the police have launched an investigation to find out the reasons.
