Police recovered the bodies of a husband and wife and their 12-year-old son from the home in Katiadi, Kishoreganj, a day after they mysteriously disappeared from their home.
The decapitated bodies were recovered from the Jamsite area of the Banagram Union of upazila around 9:30 pm on Thursday (October 29).
The deceased were identified as Asad Mia, 52, the son of the late Mir Hossain Khan of Jamshait village, his wife Parveen Akhter, 40, and their son Leon, 12.
Police believe the shocking murder took place due to a family dispute. Police arrested Assad’s brother, two sisters and a sister’s husband for questioning.
Assad, his wife and children mysteriously disappeared from their home Thursday morning, police said. Her two sons, Mofazzal and Tofazzal, were unable to find their parents or younger brother when they returned home from Dhaka today. When they saw blood inside the house, they informed the people around. After reporting to the police in the afternoon, the Katiadi police went to the scene. Later, the bodies of three people were found buried in a hole next to the house.
Mofazzal Hossain, the son of the late Assad, said that when he returned home from his grandfather’s house this morning, he saw that his parents and brother were not at home. But there are bloodstains on the floor of the house. He informed the people around him about the incident.
Later, the villagers informed the police and the police recovered the bodies of the three while they were buried next to the house. Senior police officers, CID and PBIA visited the scene shortly after the incident.
Kishoreganj Police Superintendent Mashrukur Rahman Khaled said the killing was initially due to a family dispute. The police arrested Asad’s brother, Deen Islam, the two sisters Nazma and Taslima, and Taslima’s husband, Fazlu Mia. Assad’s mother has also been detained for questioning.
The bodies of the deceased were recovered and sent to the Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital Morgue for autopsy.
