The bodies of seven people, including a girlfriend and three children, have been recovered from a trawler that sank in the Meghna River in Hatia upazila of Noakhali. The accident happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday. At least 12 people are missing in the incident.
The deceased have been identified as Taslima (21), Aparina Akhter Lamia (2), Asma Begum (19), Lily Akhter (6), Hosne Ara Rupa (5), Rahena Akhter (30) and Nurjahan Begum (65).

The police officer in charge of Hatia (OC) confirmed the rescue of seven bodies. He said that the trawler carrying the bride and groom was heading to Meghna Dhalchar this afternoon from Keringchar of Hatiyar Chandandi Union. When the trawler arrived in the middle of the Meghna River near Hatia-Ramgati, it was caught in the current, capsized and drowned. After that, 40 passengers were able to swim and disembark with the help of boatmen and locals. The bodies of the bride, three children and three women have been recovered in the accident.
The CO added that the sunken trawler was rescued with the help of locals. It is estimated that there were more than 50 passengers on the trawler. In addition to the Coast Guard, the police are also working to rescue the missing passengers.
