Four people, including three sisters, were killed in a collision between a passenger bus and a private car in Belabo, Narsingdi. The bodies of the deceased were removed by cutting the side of the steering wheel of the private car. One more person was injured in the incident.
The accident took place in Darikandi on the Dhaka-Sylhet road between Narsingdi and Bhairab around 5pm on Friday.
The deceased were identified as Nawab Ali, 54, general manager of Dhaka Beijing Dyeing and Weaving Industries, Khairunnahar, 35, social welfare officer of the village of Chalna in Palash upazila of Narsingdi, his younger sister Tisha, 22, and Kamna, 24 The injured Luna Begum (38) has been sent to Dhaka in agony.
According to the police, Nawab Ali took Khairunnahar and his three sisters from the village of Chalna in Palash upazila from Narsingdi to Bhairab in a private car. On the way back, Al Mubarak’s bus bound for Sylhet, which had left Dhaka, collided head-on.
The private car twisted and went under the bus. At that time, 4 passengers in the private car were killed instantly. The injured Luna was rescued and sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Kajal Mia, an eyewitness to the incident, said that suddenly a loud noise. I looked and saw a private car getting on a bus. At first I heard screaming. The bus dropped the private car and went a long way down the road. Later I went on and saw that all four had died. An injured person was rescued and sent to hospital.
The Bhairab OC Mamunur Rahman Highway Police Station said both vehicles were speeding. So with the collision, the private car went wrong. As a result, four passengers in the private car were killed on the spot.
