On Saturday, the bride’s father filed a written complaint against the BCL district secretary general and his associates at the Sadar police station.
The marriage broke up after the incident on the street of the Education Office in Pirojpur last Friday afternoon.
Awami League District Chairman Delwar Hossain said that BCL General Secretaries Aniruzzaman Anik, Abdul Alim and Shaon had filed a written complaint with the Pirojpur Sadar Police Station charging 20/25 unidentified people.
Pirojpur Sadar Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Abdus Sobahan admitted that he had received the written complaint and said that a decision would be made at OC Police Station.
However, Aniruzzaman Anik, general secretary of the BCL district, denied the accusation of trying to kidnap the bride.
The school teacher told the bride’s father that the wedding ceremony took place at his home on Friday afternoon. Barapaksh, a resident of the Indurkani upazila district, came home with his relatives.
He said that Aniruzzaman Anik, general secretary of the Chhatra League district, entered the house with some terrorists and tried to kidnap his daughter from the ceremony before the start of Akad. At that moment, he grabbed the girl, abused her and threatened her with a gun.
Unable to kidnap his daughter due to the obstruction of relatives and neighbors present, he threatened the party. The bride’s father also alleged that the groom would be killed and the body would disappear if the girl was married to someone other than him.
Upon receiving the news, a group of police officers approached the scene and tried to scare the girl.
After this incident, the Barapaksha people who came from the village stopped the marriage and returned.
Aniruzzaman Anik, general secretary of the district’s Chhatra League, denied the allegations of attempted kidnapping of the girl and said that he had gone to speak to a friend about family marriage. But his political opponents are plotting against him over the issue.
