UNO Wahidar was attacked not for the purpose of robbery, but for a specific reason. The Bangladesh Administrative Services Association (BASA) has demanded immediate legal action against those who carried out the attack. They believe UNO Waheed has come under fire for damaging the interests of local influencers. They also hinted that ‘many more’ were involved in the incident. On the other hand, BASA has also reacted angrily to bring a case against Madaripur DC in court.
At a press conference in the auditorium of the Bangladesh Institute of Administration and Management (BIAM) in the capital on Saturday, the president of BASA, the chief secretary of the Department of Local Government. Helaluddin Ahmed reacted angrily.
The malefactors beat UNO Wahida Khanam and his father Omar Ali with a hammer at UNO’s official residence at the Ghoraghat Upazila Parishad facility in Dinajpur around 3 pm on Wednesday. Currently, Wahida Khanam is receiving treatment in Dhaka and her father in Rangpur.
BASA leaders are unwilling to accept that UNO Wahida Khanam was attacked for stealing. Demanding the deployment of the Ansar Battalion to UN security, Helaluddin Ahmed said: “Some neighborhoods are spreading propaganda to divert the incident to different sectors, as it is an isolated and robbery incident. Our association believes that this is not a theft case. Because the criminals did not steal anything from the house. The mobile phone that was on UNO’s bed was not lost. This is a premeditated attack. Many more may be involved in this.
BASA General Secretary and Public Administration Secretary Sheikh Yusuf Harun said: “We have seen that UNO Wahida has carried out some eviction campaigns lately. Some people have gotten mad at him for running these eviction campaigns. Stopped illegal sand mining in sand dunes. For these reasons, an influential person may be angry with him. We believe that it can manifest itself in this way.
He added: ‘The police are investigating, we don’t want to say anything specifically to anyone. Then research activities can be interrupted.
In response to a question, the secretary of public administration said: “It is possible that some of the criminals have taken refuge in a political party. Someone may have infiltrated a political party and carried out all these activities. The identity of the wrongdoers is a prank. At the press conference, the leaders also protested the case against Madaripur Deputy Commissioner Rahima Khatun. On September 2, a case was filed in district court against the DC district and interested officials for destroying the dredge.
Foreign Service Association Strongly Condemns and Protest: The Bangladesh Foreign Service Association (BFSA), an organization of BCS foreign cadre officials, has strongly condemned and protested the attack on the UN Wahidar. In a statement issued on Saturday, the BFSA said that the brutal, cruel and disgusting attack on an Upazila Nirbahi official, who is in charge of important government affairs, was extremely tragic and unwanted. In addition to wishing Wahidar a speedy recovery, the BFSA is investigating the real cause of the attack and demanding that those responsible be brought to justice.
