Ship candidate Nurjahan Islam Nira won the by-elections for the post of president from Jessore Sadar Upazila Parishad by obtaining almost 23 times the votes. He got two lakh 8,119 votes. And his only rival Nur-un-Nabi at the top of the paddy field got 12,354 votes.

Humayun Kabir, Jessore Sadar Upazila’s counting officer for the by-elections and the district’s main elections office, announced the results privately. The results were announced in the hall of the Electoral Office of Sadar Upazila.

Attorney Mostafizur Rahman, the ship’s symbol’s chief election agent, confirmed the matter.

He said there are five lakh 70,524 voters in 175 centers in Sadar upazila. Of which two lakh 8,119 people voted for the symbol of the ship. And 12,354 votes have been cast for the rice symbol.

Of these, 65,456 votes were cast for the symbol of the ship in 45 centers in 9 districts of the Jessore municipality. And the sheaf of rice got 3,56 votes.

It is worth mentioning that the then president of Jessore Sadar Upazila Shahin Chakladar resigned and participated in the Keshabpur parliamentary parliamentary elections and was elected deputy. Because the position of president of Jessore Sadar Upazila Parishad became vacant on February 14 this year.
