In order to implement an afforestation program in remote areas of the coast and the Chittagong Hill Tracts, the Air Force has begun to spread seeds from the sky through seed balls. This has been initiated through the necessary coordination with the Forest Department. This is the first time in Bangladesh on Sunday that seeds were sown in coastal areas by throwing seed balls from the sky.

According to ISPR, the Bangladesh Air Force, inspired by the Bangabandhu Nation’s Father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, has always played an important role in protecting the country’s airspace since its inception. Subsequently, the Air Force carried out this Sunday seed sowing activities in the coastal areas of the country within the framework of the afforestation program. Monday will be in the mountainous areas. The afforestation program is carried out under the direction of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat.

On September 3, Patuakhali seed balls were collected and processed at Biman Sadar. These processed seed balls were scattered from the sky by two Air Force MI-series helicopters over the coastal areas of Noakhali’s Damar Char area on Sunday. Since the sites selected for afforestation are inaccessible and unsuitable for road travel, seed sowing activities are being carried out in these areas by helicopter.

The Air Force-led afforestation program is expected to play an important role in protecting Bangladesh’s natural environment and reducing the risk of natural disasters by rising sea levels, deforestation and the impact of greenhouses.
