A Dhaka University student brought a case against Hasan Al Mamun, the organizer of the Bangladesh Student Rights Council, which was formed in the wake of the quota reform movement. The case was archived at the Lalbagh Police Station on Monday, Officer-in-Charge (CO) KM Ashraf Uddin confirmed.
According to the case documents, the remaining five of the six defendants are: Daksu Vice President Nurul Haque Nur, Nazmul Hasan Sohag, Md. Saiful Islam, Nazmul Huda and Abdullah-Hill-Baki. Nurul Haque Nur has been named number three accused and Abdullah-Hill-Baki number six accused.
Among them, Hassan al-Mamun was charged with rape on the pretext of marriage, and the rest were charged with complicity. The applicant is a student of the academic year 2017-18 and a student at the University’s Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib Hall.
In the case, the student mentioned, ‘Hasan Al Mamun is the older brother of my department. I met him on July 29, 2016 thanks to the Bangladesh Student Rights Council. Being a senior in my own department, at a stage in my personal relationship, my love story with him developed. Continuing with this, he had conversations with me via Messenger, Emo, and WhatsApp at different times. There they gave me indications of a physical relationship. On the afternoon of January 3, Hasan Al Mamun asked me to come to his home at 104, Masjid Road, Nawabganj in the capital. There he raped me showing me the temptation of marriage. I got sick on January 4 after the incident. On January 12, I was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital through Mamun’s friend Sohag. Mamun and Sohag would not allow me to contact campus reporters while I was hospitalized. Earlier, when Mamun was pressured into getting married, she agreed, but after I got sick, she started making excuses.
In the complaint, the student said: ‘I verbally informed VP Nur about the matter on June 20 without seeing Upayantu. He says that Mamun is my advisor, my comrade in arms. I’ll make an arrangement by sitting with him. Then, on June 24, he came to meet me in Nilkhet with the assurance of an agreement. But he forbade me to go too far in this regard, avoiding the question of arrangement. If I go too far, he will threaten to post my name on Facebook with his fans and promote me as a pervert.
The campaign was threatened by a group of 1.1 million members of its Student Rights Council. Nur added that all my respect will disappear in one of their lives. Meanwhile, Saiful Islam, the fourth defendant in the case, has spread slander on my behalf and has used the fifth and sixth defendants to spread slander. They talk about my character in the messaging chat group and conspire to annoy me. ‘
The student further said in the complaint: “Although some of the leaders of the Student Rights Council wanted to work for a just solution to the problem, the defendants described them as conspirators.” Then I filed a lawsuit for having a physical and mental illness and talking to family members; There has been a delay in filing the case.
When asked about the allegations, Hassan Al Mamun told the media: “We don’t know anything about the case.” We did nothing like that accusation. You can be motivated, we will protest knowing the details of the matter.
In this regard, Nurul Haque Nur said that I do not know the girl. I never saw it. Two months ago she called me and asked for my cooperation, I had a relationship with a boy who was having problems. For that they asked me to play a role. She did not stay in contact to call.
“At one point he introduced the boy to me and told us to kick him out of the organization,” he said. But I found out that the boy’s name is Nazmul and he’s not in charge of our organization. However, he used to attend our various programs. So I told the girl that Seto is not one of our organization, not even in the position. Then the girl said that I should expel one more person, including Nazmul, who is our convener Hasan Al Mamun. But I tell him that he is our convener. How do I expel the convener? I will provide legal assistance if you think you have a problem. I will cooperate in the cell against sexual harassment at the university. But in the end he didn’t keep in touch.
Nur claimed that the case was motivated by motives. She said the girl’s house is Mymensingh. As far as I know, Sanjit Chandra Das, the president of the Chhatra League of Dhaka University, has brought a case against the girl with money. In fact, the government is finding a way to prevent us from speaking out against the dictatorship, misrule and collusion in India. Government intelligence agencies are also involved.
Lalbagh Police Station OC KM Ashraf Uddin said Hasan Al Mamun had allegedly raped the girl. And 5 people, including Vice President Noor, have been charged with collaborating on this work. The other four defendants are: Nazmul Hasan Sohag, Md. Saiful Islam, Nazmul Huda and Abdullah-Hill-Baki. Nawabganj de Lalbagh has been mentioned as the scene of the case.
