In mid-August 2012, the Ministry of Justice informed the ACC in writing and asked it to investigate the matter. Taking into account the complaint, the ACC decided to investigate in August of that year.
Mir Qasim Ali signed an agreement with Cassidy & Associates in Washington on October 8, 2010 to thwart the trial for crimes against humanity, according to a Ministry of Justice complaint sent to the ACC. The agreement was signed by Mir Qasim Ali on behalf of the war criminals and Andrew J. Camirs on behalf of Cassidy.
The agreement states that if Cassidy receives £ 25 million upfront, they will start working for war criminals. In addition, Cassidy and the people involved will have to pay an additional £ 1.5 million for this trip. Also, Mir Qasim Ali has to carry all kinds of travel money.
After the agreement, Cassidy wrote a letter to Mir Qasim Ali. The letter said that they would start arriving in Bangladesh from October 2010. At the same time, the agreement will affect senators, congressmen and administrators from South Asia.
Shortly after, British lawyer Tommy Cadman arrived in Bangladesh on behalf of Naib Amir Delwar Hossain Sayedee of Jamaat, accused in a case of crimes against humanity. Under the agreement, the US law firm will work only 6 months for 25 million. If they want to work later, they have to pay a higher amount.
The ACC also questioned and interrogated Mir Qasim Ali on the basis of these allegations. During questioning, Mir Qasim denied the allegations, sources close to the ACC investigation said.
Mir Qasim, who was sentenced to death, is a member of Shura at the highest policy-making forum in Jamaat, Majlis. It is also known as a major fundraiser for the party. He is one of the richest people in the country.
