The ACC arrested two auditors with more than four lakh rupees in bribes

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) arrested two auditors who came to Pirojpur to audit various offices and institutions of the primary education department with 4 lakh 17 lakhs in cash.

Those arrested are: Audit and Accounts Officer of the Audit Department of Education, Culture and Religious Affairs. Shamim Hossain and SAS Superintendent. Zaheer Raihan.

A six-member team led by Debabrata Mandal, deputy director of the Barisal Integrated District Office of the Anti-Corruption Commission, arrested them in Hatena on Monday afternoon along with their money.

The two were staying in a guest house on the third floor of LGED’s office on the ring road in the city of Pirojpur. Some packages worth 1,500 rupees were found hidden in various places in his room, including travel bags and under the mattress of the bed. Counting, 4 lakh 16 lakhs were found in those packages.

ACC Deputy Director Debabrata Mandal said the money was recovered from the LGED guesthouse around 4 p.m. Monday in a notice and two auditors were arrested. They have accepted bribes from various primary education offices in Pirojpur. The arrested persons were handed over to the Pirojpur Sadar Police Station overnight after filing a case under the relevant section of the Anti-Corruption Law.

It was learned that the two auditors came to Pirojpur on Sunday to audit the expenses incurred in the last financial year of the district primary education office, 6 district upazila primary education offices, PTI and various other departments of the department and stayed at the LGED rest house. Audit activities began in three district upazila primary education offices, including the Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Primary Education Office, on Monday.
