He said that the outcome of the talks was such that there would be more discussions on the issues we had discussed.
“We believe that we will solve all the problems through dialogue. I will be able to reach a consensus. We will be able to reach a consensus on all the conversations that have come up through the talks.
“They (the scholars) also have in their hearts the greatest Bengali father of our nation and the scholars also recognize that the Honorable Prime Minister is a ‘genuine’ Muslim.” This decision was made after a long discussion. The negotiations will end in consensus ”.
When asked what was agreed and what the academics said about the sculpture, the minister said: “I made it clear that we will discuss the issue in detail and the discussion has started. It will be resolved through discussion.” Are the scholars in a position to establish Mujib Minar or not …?
“It just came to our notice then. From what we’ve discussed, we believe that a beautiful environment has been created and academics have asked that no one should trash the streets. No one should come and disturb any kind of peace and order.”
He said academics have also spoken out against attempts to spread various kinds of tensions on Facebook. These things that scholars have said to control.
“The academics have said they will not make any moves. The five proposals they have made will be resolved through negotiations,” he said. If it is unconstitutional, then we have no power to accept it. We will not go beyond the constitution, we do not want to hurt anyone’s religious feelings. “
Commenting that the Awami League does not do ‘kneeling politics’, he said: “We will not do anything outside the constitution; this does not mean we will rule out any religion. We go and continue to follow religious culture and religious rules.”
When asked whether the sculpture or the Mujib Minar would be erected, the minister said, “Why the sculpture? It is not worshiped. We are saying, who was Bangabandhu for the new generation from birth to rebirth? To maintain the Bangabandhu contribution forever memorable, to keep it in the heart, the generation after birth wants to have Bangabandhu.
“We are talking about ourselves, scholars have spoken on the line of religion. So the guys will be a good solution through discussion. To be clear, there was no decision that there would be no sculpture, there was no decision that there would be a Mujib Minar. These will end through negotiations. “
When asked about the proposal to meet academics with the Prime Minister, he said: “Academics want to meet. The honorable prime minister will meet if he agrees. But you know Covid-19 around the world … It is also ours. responsibility to keep the Prime Minister healthy ”.
