A Madrasa teacher brutally beat a child student from the Hefaz department of the Islamic Academy of the Quran Markazul in Chittagong’s Hathazari for going with his mother. When the video of the torture was posted on Facebook, there was a storm of protests. The abusive teacher has been expelled in this incident. On the other hand, the student’s parents said in writing that they have forgiven the teacher who abused the child.
Earlier on Tuesday (March 9), thousands of people shared the video. Meanwhile, Hafez Mohammad, a teacher from the Hefz department of the madrasa, raided the Islamic Academy of the Quran Markazul in Fatika village of Hathazari Township around 1pm on Tuesday. Yahya was arrested by the police.
Hathazari Upazila Nirbahi officer Ruhul Amin said they have spoken with the victimized students, the accused teachers, the head of the madrasa and all concerned. The immediate expulsion of the accused professor was ordered. He was also instructed not to be appointed a teacher in any Hathazari madrasa.
However, the administration was unable to take legal action against the guilty teacher, as the student’s parents had given a written statement to the effect that they had pardoned the accused madrasa teacher.
The boy’s parents refused to take disciplinary action against the teacher, UNO said. Two people came to my office and asked me to release the teacher. They said they had pardoned the teacher and would not file any case. They refused to sue even after I explained many things to them.
