Police are finally arresting Rekha Begum, 30, a domestic worker who beat a 65-year-old woman and ran away with valuables. He looted his belongings and fled from Dhaka to his uncle’s house in Thakurgaon. A team of the Dhaka Shahjahanpur police arrested him on Wednesday night. It was learned that DMP Shahjahanpur Police Station, SI Rezaul Karim, with the help of Ranishankail Police Station, arrested the domestic worker from Kafiluddin’s home in the Chikanmati area of Kashipur Union with her adoptive uncle.
After the incident, Rekha took refuge for the first time in Demra, Dhaka. After the media reported the incident, he fled and took refuge in his uncle Kafiluddin’s home in the Kashipur UP village of Chikanmati in Ranishankail upazila of Thakurgaon.
Ranishankail (OC) police officer in charge SM Zahid said the brutal incident with the housewife was caught on CCTV at her home. When the CCTV images were published in various media, the local administration was shocked. On Tuesday, a case was filed at the Shahjahanpur Police Station. The police arrested him in that case. The police recovered four gold rings, two rings, a necklace, a nose flower and 50,200 rupees in cash. Later, the Shahjahanpur police took Rekha to Dhaka.
Meanwhile, Baliadangi OC Police Station (Investigation) Abdus Sabur said Rekha’s home is in Barapalash Bari village of Baliadangi upazila. She is the daughter of Afa Uddin from that town.
