In May last year, the RAB brought a case against 11 people, including Sami, at the Ramna Police Station under the Digital Security Act for spreading propaganda on Facebook from a page called “IM Bangladeshi”. After a lengthy investigation, eight people, including Sami, were removed from the charge sheet because the main person on that page could not be found. On January 11, the police issued a charge sheet charging three people. But according to Al Jazeera television news, the main person on that page is Sami. Subsequently, on 10 February, the court ordered the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police to further investigate the case taking into account the general situation.
Monirul Islam, additional commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police and head of the anti-terror unit, told Ittefaq: “We have started investigating the case after receiving instructions from the court.” Now the matter is under investigation.
Cartoonists Ahmed Kabir Kishore, Ashiq Imran, Philip Schumacher, Swapan Wahid and writer Mustaq Ahmed have been directing the 8-page ‘IM Bangladeshi’ for a long time. They were joined by Netra News journalist Tasneem Khalil Shahed Alam, blogger Asif Mohiuddin, state thinker Didarul Islam Bhuiyan, Minhaj Mannan and they spoke about Sami. Sami was the sixth defendant in the case brought by the RAB at the Ramna Police Station. However, only eight of the 11 defendants in the case have been removed from the charge sheet.
Sources said Sami was arrested in 2006 for being involved in a financial fraud disguised as an RAB officer. Now he lives in Hungary. He fraudulently changed his name and that of his father to make a passport. Sami, born in 1964, was caught stealing an army officer’s tracksuit at the age of 18. He was also caught selling stolen ivory in 2000.
Sami was expelled from the cantonment since he was a teenager. According to various intelligence officials, Sami was involved in a number of crimes, including Tanvir Sadat, Shayer Zulkarnain, and Zulqarnain Shayer Khan Sej. He was released on bail but left the country.
Sami’s real name is known to be Samiul Ahmed Khan. His father retired Lieutenant. Colonel Md. Abdul Baset Khan. Samiul Ahmed Khan is the oldest of four brothers. At the age of 14, Sami lost her mother. Two years later, the father married a second time. Sami entered the dark world of the stepmother’s family. After being expelled from the cadet school, he was admitted to the Ispahani school in Comilla.
From the age of 15 to 16, she was involved in various crimes, including drug use and harassment of girls. Sami married the daughter of an army officer without informing his first wife by introducing himself as an army officer. Sami was also accused of embezzling millions of rupees from some people in the name of issuing US visas with the help of a US embassy security official with a broken VHF (Wakitki) antenna. After starting a restaurant business in Hungary with the help of his father-in-law, Sami became involved in BNP politics.
