Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that America’s “era of monopoly power” in the international arena is over. The former KGB official, who has been at the center of Russia’s state power for more than 20 years, also explained that the balance of power in the world has changed significantly.

In a video link on Thursday (October 22), he told the Moscow-based think tank Valdai Discussion Club that the United States once had “absolute dominance” over the world, but could no longer claim it. Putin also said that the era of solving most international problems through talks between Washington and Moscow is over.

One of the superpowers, Russian President Putin, said that China and Germany were moving towards becoming superpowers in terms of economic and political power, respectively. Referring to Britain and France, Putin said the roles of the two countries in international affairs had also changed significantly.

Despite significant shifts in the balance of power around the world, Putin warned influential and powerful countries that still dream of bringing Russia to its knees: “Our main concern is not to get sick at his funeral.”

However, in his speech, the Russian president expressed interest in holding talks with other countries on various global issues. He even proposed a dialogue with the next US administration on cybersecurity, other issues related to nuclear weapons security and control.
