In Thailand a state of emergency has been declared. The protests continued in the streets even after that. Thousands of people have taken to the streets in defiance of government directives.

A report by Qatar-based media Al-Jazeera said thousands of people took part in anti-government protests in the country’s capital Bangkok on Thursday night local time.

The main demand of the protesters is the resignation of the Prime Minister of Thailand. There are several other demands from the protesters. The country’s prime minister, Prayuth Chan-ocha, said on Friday that he would not resign. He called an emergency meeting of ministers today in response to last night’s protests.

“I’m not going to move,” Prayuth said. The government must use the state of emergency. We have to move on. Because the situation is getting worse… it is being used (emergency) for 30 days. If the situation is simple, less time will be used.

On the other hand, the protesters were dispersed by law enforcement officers around 10 at night. The reformers have announced that they will meet in the same place every day until the demand is met.

After the rule of the state of emergency, the police withdrew the protesters gathered in front of the Prime Minister’s Office. Police arrested at least 20 people at the time.

The protesters last night demanded the immediate release of the detainees. They are protesting demanding the dissolution of the government, new elections, amendments to the constitution drawn up by the military government, an end to the repression of dissent and the reform of the monarchy.
