Dr. Abrar Fahad Rabbi (22), BUET deputy chief medical officer, student at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, has testified against 25 defendants in the murder case. Masum Elahi. The testimony was taken in court from judge Abu Zafar Mohammad Kamruzzaman of the Speedy First Instance Court in Dhaka on Monday.

After going there, 10 to 15 students surrounded the ambulance and asked to bring oxygen cylinders and stretchers. I say, first see the patient, then do what I have to do. “
In his statement, Masuk Elahi said: ‘The students led me to the stairs in the north block. On the stairs between the first and second floors, I saw student Abrar lying on a mattress with pants and a long-sleeved shirt. The mattresses and pants were wet with urine. I declare him dead from the test. Of these, 10-15 students standing next to me left quickly. After a while a student arrived. He introduced himself as Russell and the BCL secretary from the BUET branch. He said Abrar didn’t die. She is sleeping. We spoke to him (Abrar) a while ago. ‘ Have him take you (Open) to BUET Medical or Dhaka Medical. I say it is useless, that he is dead.
Testimony of Dr. Masuk Elahi said: ‘Then I was the rector of BUET. I informed Zafar Iqbal about the incident over the phone. He was accompanied by DSW Sir and Assistant Provost Sir. Then BUET security officer Azad arrived and called the police. In 15 to 20 minutes the police arrived, prepared an investigation report and took my signature. Subsequently, Abrar’s body was taken to Dhaka Medical on BUET’s ambulance and stretcher. The ambulance and the stretcher were seized by the police. I sign the seizure list, ‘said the witness.
Said the defendant’s lawyer. Masuk was questioned. Since the cross-examination was not over, the judge set a date to re-take evidence tomorrow.

On the night of October 8 last year, Abrar was beaten to death by BCL leaders and activists in a room in BUET’s Sher-e-Bangla Hall. Abrar’s father filed a murder case at the Chawkbazar police station on October 7, charging 19 people with the incident.
25 defendants in the case
The defendants in the case are: BUET Chhatra League, expelled general secretary Mehedi Hasan Russell, deputy general secretary Muhtamim Fouad, secretary of information and investigation. Anik Sarkar alias Apu, organization secretary Mehedi Hasan Robin alias Shant, Legal Undersecretary Amit Saha, Social Services Undersecretary Ifti Mosharraf Sakal, Sports Secretary Md. Meftahul Islam Zion, Publications and Books Secretary Ishtiaq Ahmed Munna, Muntasir Al Jamie activist, Khandaker Tabakhkharul Islam Tanvir, Md. Mujahidur Rahman, Md. Moniruzzaman Monir, Akash Hossain, Hossain Mohammad Toha, Maryland. Majedur Rahman Majed, Shamim Billah, Muaz alias Abu Huraira, ASM Nazmus Sadat, roommate of Abrar Mizanur Rahman, Shamsul Arefin Rafat, Morshed Amatya Islam, SM Mahmud Setu, Muhammad Morshed-uz-Zaman Mondal alias Miz and Mujtaba Rafid.
Among the accused are Muhammad Morshed-uz-Zaman Mandal alias Jisan, Ehteshamul Rabbi alias Tanim and Mujtaba Rafid. The remaining 22 people have been arrested. Eight people have given confessional statements in court in this case.
Case details
On November 13 last year, the investigating officer of the case Detective (DB) Police Inspector (unarmed) said. Wahiduzzaman filed a charge sheet against 25 people. Then, on February 17 of this year, the father of the late Abrar Fahad asked the Dhaka Metropolitan Prosecutor’s Office (PP) to send the case to the lower court. Barkat Ullah. On March 12, the Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Anisul Haque, approved the file to send the murder case to the lower court.
