The court has taken the testimony of two girlfriends of the victim and a professor (Department of Sociology) against the defendant Majnoor in the case of rape of a student from Dhaka University (DU) in Kurmitola, the capital.
Judge Mosammat Kamrunnahar of Dhaka 8th Court for Suppression of Abuse of Women and Children on Wednesday (September 23) set September 24 for the next hearing after taking his testimony. Majnu was presented in court that day. So far the testimony of five people has been completed.

Earlier on August 28, Judge Mosammat Kamrunnahar of Dhaka Women’s and Children’s Court-6 filed charges. On August 18, the judge of the Dhaka 8th Court of Women and Children accepted the charge sheet for the case.
On March 17, the investigating officer for the case, Detective Inspector Abu Siddique Majnu, filed the charge sheet at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrates Court. 16 people have been cited as witnesses on the charge sheet of the case.
The court sent Majnoor, arrested in connection with the January 9 rape case, for seven days. After pre-trial detention, Majnu confessed to the rape on January 16 and testified in court. After the deposition, the judge ordered the accused to be sent to jail. The rapist Majnu is currently in jail.
Early on January 8, the student’s father filed a case with the Cantonment Police Station charging an unidentified person.
It can be mentioned that the student was heading to her girlfriend’s house on the college bus after 5:30 pm on January 5 of this year. After getting off at the Kurmitola bus station, she was followed by an unknown person. He grabbed her in the middle and took her to a secluded place and raped her. The incident took place between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. The student regained consciousness around 10 pm. Later she went to her girlfriend’s house by rickshaw. From there, his girlfriend and other classmates took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
