The Director General of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) has expressed concern about the presence of an armed regional separatist terrorist group in the Chittagong Hill Tracts region of Bangladesh within the Indian state of Mizoram. Both parties agreed to conduct joint night patrols in sensitive areas of the border as a more effective measure to reduce border killings to zero. In addition, the two parties agreed to intensify public awareness programs in border areas at risk and take appropriate precautionary measures at the border, including appropriate socio-economic development programs.

The BGB Director General said that the people of Bangladesh have always appreciated the excellent relations that exist between the two border guards and hope that the BGB and BSF will take the necessary steps to reduce the number of border killings to zero. He called for all possible efforts to be made to defend human rights and subject the perpetrators to the law of their respective countries instead of killing them.

The director general of BSF assured that measures will be taken to significantly reduce the number of murders at the border in the near future. Noting the need for joint efforts to protect human rights and prevent violence at the border, both parties agreed to take additional precautionary measures at the border by intensifying public awareness programs at the border, adopting adequate socio-economic development programs in areas remote.

The Director General of BGB emphasized the Integrated Border Management Plan (CBMP) and expressed concern about various cross-border crimes such as drug and narcotics smuggling, especially yaba, firearms smuggling, cattle smuggling, counterfeit currency, gold, etc. .

The Director General of the BSF said that drug addiction among young people in both countries has increased dramatically as a result of illegal drug trafficking, which is dangerous for both and must be addressed effectively. In this regard, both parties agreed to immediately exchange information on smuggling that would benefit both the border guards and to carry out joint operations if necessary.

The director general of the BGB expressed concern about the frequent entry of Indian nationals and members of the BSF into Bangladesh in violation of customary public order, which could lead to misunderstandings and unpleasant situations between the two friendly border guards. He sought the cooperation of the BSF to maintain the friendly relations between the two border guards. Both sides agreed to prevent border people from illegally crossing the border or violating the border, and at the same time assured members of both forces to uphold border regulations.

Both parties agreed to take various measures to improve existing friendly relations and build trust. Both parties agreed not to carry out any development work within 150 meters of the border without prior notice. They also agreed to resolve other development works that were paralyzed as soon as possible.

At a bilateral conference between the prime ministers of Bangladesh and India (virtual) on December 16, the Indian prime minister promised to consider the request for an innocent 1.3 kilometer route on the Padma River in Rajshahi district. The Director General of the BGB requested the Director General of the BSF to follow up the matter with the highest priority. The general director of the BSF assured to resolve the matter through the competent authorities.

The Director General of BGB and BSF expressed his satisfaction with the achievement of the conference. Both reiterated their commitment to work together to maintain a peaceful position on the border. Both parties agreed to hold the next Director General-level Border Conference in Dhaka in the second week of April next year.
