Students from all universities in the country using the BDREN platform administered by the University Scholarship Commission (UGC) will get the facility, the commission said in a press release Wednesday.
It is said that there are currently 42 public and 8 private universities in Bangladesh using the BDREN platform. Students will be able to participate in classes online through the Zoom app. For this they have to be under the Teletalk network.
“This facility will be available for a recharge of Rs 100 per month. The reloaded money will be credited to your original account. This money can be spent on voice and data calls. Unused money will be added to the next recharge. However, this benefit cannot be taken advantage of if you top up below Rs 100 and have no minimum data on the SIM. ”
BDREN sent a letter to all mobile operators, including Teletalk, on July 21 so that students could use the free online educational resource. Teletalk has given its consent on August 26.
“Teletalk believes that with this initiative, a large number of students will be able to access their network during online classes.”
UGC President Professor Kazi Shahidullah said: “This initiative to keep students online at the university level during the Corona epidemic is very timely.”
He thanked the Ministry of Education, the Department of Posts and Telecommunications and Teletalk for responding to the initiative to provide Internet bandwidth at ‘nominal cost’.
