“I have been talking to them since they attached me to my 999 number. However, they couldn’t say the address even though they promised to keep them in a building. When asked to describe the scene around them, a police team started the operation. “

The OC said the operation identified a building called ‘Emirates Palace’ in the G-31 block of the residential area of Kalpalok. Besides rescuing them from floor 4-B on the fifth floor of the building, Shaheen Akhter and Delwar have also been arrested.

During the interrogation of the two rescued and detained women, the police learned that they were working in a garment factory called Canpark in Karnafuli EPZ. They lost their jobs because of the epidemic.

The two young women said that a woman named Rekha, who worked with them, introduced them to a man named Rakib to get a job in another factory. Rakib along with his friends Shawkat Ali and Shaheen Akhtar brought them to the house last Saturday night.

Rakib and Shawkat rented the house a month ago.

“Helpless young women were taken there and forced into prostitution,” OC Nezam said.

Apart from the two detainees, a case has been brought against Rakib, Shawkat and Rekha under the Human Trafficking Act. The CO said an operation was underway to catch the three fugitives.
